What this page covers
This policy explains what information mumshift.com collects, how it's used, and who it's shared with. It covers the website generally and the Life Leadership Dashboard specifically, since the Dashboard processes more than a typical page view.
The Life Leadership Dashboard
When you use the Dashboard, what you enter — your brain dump, the Demand and Capacity levels you choose and your answer about unexpected events — is processed temporarily in your browser, and your Leadership Brief is generated there too. Mum Shift does not store your individual assessment entries on its servers. Your brain-dump text, individual Demand and Capacity ratings, and answer about unexpected events are not sent to our servers or to any AI provider. If you consent to analytics, we share only the limited summary information described below. The Dashboard does not save your entries in your browser's storage, although, like any web page, your browser may keep what you typed for a short time — for example if you go back to the page in the same tab. When you save your Brief, your own device creates the PDF.
Usage analytics. If you accept analytics cookies, we use Google Analytics to understand how the Dashboard is used. For the Dashboard, this is limited to which steps are completed, the language used, the overall pattern shown (for example “Stretched”), how many of the seven systems are under pressure, tight or have margin, how many items the brain dump contained, whether the Brief was saved or a private link was copied, whether you chose to receive Mum Shift emails and whether that signup went through (never your address), and whether the page was opened inside another app's browser. It never includes what you wrote, your individual ratings, your answer about unexpected events, which systems are involved, or your email address.
Private link to your Brief. If you choose “Copy private link to my Brief”, the link contains your fourteen Demand and Capacity ratings, your answer about unexpected events and the date of your assessment. It does not contain your brain-dump text, your name or your email address. Opening the link does not send this information to us, but the link is not password-protected: anyone who has it can open your Brief, and once you have shared it, Mum Shift cannot revoke it. It remains wherever you paste or share it — and possibly in your browser's history — until you delete it. Share it only with people you trust.
Email and newsletter. Your email address is handled separately from your assessment, as described in the next section. Nothing from your assessment is sent to Mailchimp.
Email address & the Leadership Brief
To unlock your Leadership Brief, you're asked for your email address. Unless you choose to receive Mum Shift emails, your address remains in your browser only for the Brief-access flow: it is not sent to Mailchimp, not stored on our servers and not sent to analytics. If you tick the optional box to receive Mum Shift emails, your address, language and how you signed up are sent to Mailchimp, which emails you to confirm your subscription (double opt-in). You're only subscribed once you confirm, and you can unsubscribe at any time.
Newsletter signup
If you subscribe to The Mum Shift Letter directly (via the footer form on any page), your email address, language and the fact that you signed up through that form are sent to Mailchimp, which emails you to confirm (double opt-in). You're only subscribed once you confirm. In both cases, the request passes through a small function on our hosting provider (Netlify), which forwards it to Mailchimp and does not store it.
Contact & Work With Me form
Messages submitted through the Work With Me contact form are handled by Netlify Forms and delivered to Mum Shift directly. This is separate from the Mailchimp audience used for the newsletter.
Cookies & analytics
We use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand how the site is used. Analytics cookies only load after you accept them via the cookie banner; if you decline, no analytics cookies are set. This is implemented using Google's Consent Mode.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the following rights over the personal data described on this page:
- Access — ask us what personal data we hold about you.
- Rectification — ask us to correct data that is inaccurate or incomplete.
- Erasure — ask us to delete your personal data, including unsubscribing from Mailchimp at any time via the link in any email.
- Restriction or objection — ask us to limit how we use your data, or object to a particular use, where applicable to how that data is processed.
- Portability — ask for a copy of the data you've provided us in a common, machine-readable format, where applicable.
- Withdraw consent — where our use of your data relies on consent (such as the newsletter, or the optional Dashboard opt-in), withdraw that consent at any time, without affecting anything already done before withdrawal.
- Complain to a supervisory authority — if you're in the EU or EEA, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority if you believe your data has been mishandled.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below. We'll respond as promptly as we reasonably can. This section describes the rights the underlying systems (Mailchimp, Netlify, Google Analytics) support today — it is not a substitute for legal advice, and we haven't claimed any guarantee beyond what our actual setup provides.
